We're so lucky to have the Otari-Wilton Bush so accessible to so many. The effort put into this area to make it so beautiful is quite astounding as illustrated in that upon arriving at the carpark there was a pair of kererū feeding in a kowhai tree.
Starting at the north entrance carpark we followed the purple line up toward the information centre, back down to the picnic lawn, then onto the yellow line up the stream to the flax clearing, on to the red line over another stream, then back onto the purple line to the car park. Today we had a great group from Active Oodles - 7 dogs and 7 walkers. All of the dogs got along really well and the human conversation was great. So good to be walking with such a great group.
The track was reasonably damp and from time to time there was a boggy patch - but my shoes weren't muddy by the time we got back which is really good for this time of year. A few uphill and downhill parts means that the walk today was moderate but if you're after an easier walk follow the stream and you'll be rewarded with a walk suitable for almost everyone.
